Building Codes

Australian Building Codes Board

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is a joint initiative of all levels of Government in Australia. The Board's mission is to provide for efficiency and cost effectiveness in meeting community expectations for health, safety, amenity and sustainability in the design, construction and performance of buildings through the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and effective regulatory systems.

National Construction Code

The National Construction Code (NCC) contains the minimum requirements for the design and construction of buildings and other structures and includes technical provisions which cover such matters as structure, plumbing, fire resistance, access and egress, services and equipment, energy efficiency and aspects of health and amenity.  The BCA is produced and maintained by the ABCB on behalf of the Australian Government and State and Territory Governments. The NCC has been given the status of building regulations by all States and Territories.
